Alek Vila : Biography
Singer, songwriter, keyboard player, and guitarist Alek Vila started exploring music with a Casio synthesizer and teenage passion for 80s Alternative music. Alek counts among his favorite influences: Howard Jones, Depeche Mode, The Cure, INXS, Duran Duran, U2, Tears for Fears, Peter Gabriel, and more.
Alek has enjoyed music from many angles, including a brief exploit in film scoring. Alek is a self-taught musician, composer, and songwriter. He produced his own debut album in 1999 (Love in Color - released Feb 2, 2000). Pat DiNizio (The Smithereens) selected Alek's song "Belief" among the first to be broadcasted when he launched XM Satellite Radio's nationwide Unsigned Artists Channel (52).
In 2003, Alek studied jazz piano improvisation at the Victorian College of the Arts in Melbourne, Australia. Later that year, he found a home for his music in Seattle, WA.
